Plan for the life

Independent.
Fiduciary in spirit and structure.
Custody at Fidelity · planning via RightCapital · FINRA / SIPC

Built for households where the money matters because the life around it does.

Most of the families we work with are within a decade of retirement, with $1M+ in investable assets and the kind of complexity that makes a one-size-fits-all approach feel inadequate.

01

Pre-retirees, five to ten years out

You've done the saving. Now the questions are different, when to retire, how to draw income, how to translate decades of work into a steady, tax-efficient life.

  • Sequence of returns risk
  • Roth conversion windows
  • Healthcare bridge to Medicare
02

New and seasoned retirees

You'd like a steady hand on the long view. We help you spend confidently, rebalance thoughtfully, and adjust gracefully when life changes.

  • Replacing a paycheck
  • Required minimum distributions
  • Withdrawal sequencing
03

Executives, professionals, business owners

You have meaningful complexity, concentrated stock, deferred compensation, a sale on the horizon. We coordinate the moving parts so the plan holds together.

  • Concentrated stock & RSUs
  • Exit & succession planning
  • Coordinated tax strategy
The questions you're sitting with

Most clients arrive with the same five questions , quietly, for a while.

We've heard them at first meetings for two decades. None of them have a one-line answer. All of them are worth your time.

i.
Will we actually have enough, and how would we know?We model your real cash flow, not a generic glide path.
ii.
How do we replace a paycheck without watching markets every morning?Income strategy designed for sleep, not just spreadsheets.
iii.
Are we paying more in tax than we need to?Roth windows, charitable giving, RMDs, we surface what's available.
iv.
What happens to the people we love if something happens to us?Estate, beneficiary, and protection structure reviewed and aligned.
v.
Can we stop second-guessing every big decision?A trusted partner who picks up the phone when life shifts.
  • We start with a thorough look at where you are today: accounts, goals, concerns, and history. Nothing is moved or recommended until we both have the full picture.
  • We map the income you'll need, where it will come from, and in what order, so the paycheck side of retirement feels boring in the best way.
  • We design portfolios for your specific goals and time horizons, custody them at Fidelity, and review them on an ongoing basis, not just at year end.
  • We coordinate with your CPA on Roth conversions, capital gains, RMDs, and charitable strategies, so tax planning is a year-round effort, not a March surprise.
  • We review insurance, long-term care, and liability coverage with the goal of right-sizing protection, not selling product.
  • We pressure-test wills, trusts, beneficiary designations, and account titling so your wishes survive contact with reality.
  • We translate the numbers into the life they're meant to support, the trips, the grandkids, the second home, the quiet Tuesday.
How the first step works

An easy first conversation, at your pace.

The hardest part of finding a planner is starting. We try to make starting feel like the smallest possible decision.

01

A short introductory conversation

Twenty-five minutes by phone or video. You tell us what's on your mind. We listen more than we talk.

02

Goals, concerns, and a fit check

If we're not the right firm for you, we'll say so, and point you toward someone who is.

03

A planning conversation, when ready

If there's a fit, we'll walk through your full picture and outline what working together would look like.

04

No pressure, no timeline

Some clients begin the same month. Some take a year. There is no script and no follow-up campaign.

Things people ask before they pick up the phone.

Most of the households we serve are within a decade of retirement, have $1M+ in investable assets, and want a long-term planning partner rather than a transactional broker. If your situation is meaningfully more complex, a business sale, concentrated stock, blended family, that's often where we add the most value.
Yes. We're based in Ann Arbor and meet locally whenever clients prefer, but a meaningful portion of our households are nationwide. Most ongoing meetings happen by video, with annual or semi-annual planning reviews scheduled around your calendar.
We act in our clients' best interest at all times and disclose how we are paid clearly and in writing. Most relationships are structured as ongoing planning and investment management for an asset-based fee. The full SIGMA Client Relationship Summary, ADV, and BrokerCheck records are available in our footer.
We don't prepare returns, but tax planning runs through everything we do, Roth conversions, capital-gains harvesting, RMDs, charitable strategy, and account location. We coordinate directly with your CPA, or can introduce one if you'd like.
A short introductory conversation, usually twenty-five minutes by phone or video. You tell us what's on your mind. We listen, ask a few questions, and at the end of the call we'll either schedule a planning meeting or, if we aren't the right firm for you, point you somewhere that is.
No. Many clients begin with a planning relationship before any assets move, and some never consolidate fully. When accounts do move, they custody at Fidelity in your name; we have access to manage and report, but we never take possession of your money.
A formal annual review, a mid-year update, and unscheduled conversations whenever life changes, a job offer, a sale, a market move, a family event. You'll also have access to RightCapital to see the plan and the Fidelity portal to see the accounts, anytime.
An invitation

When you're ready, we'll be here.

Twenty-five minutes, by phone or video. Bring your questions, we'll bring two decades of having heard them. No pitch deck, no follow-up campaign.
